I'm very much taken with the romance and magic of a traditional wedding. At the same time, I'm big fan of the modern ideas that have infiltrated the institution: the first look, expedient and unique ceremonies, games and activities, donut cakes, nontraditional guest books and saving the brunt of your wedding photos for after the big day.
Here are a few of the photos we took weeks after my sister's wedding. I wrangled together a bouquet from farmer's market blooms, Gem did her own hair and makeup and all of us tried to hide the dirt, grass and wine stains that her dress had accumulated. But look how gorgeous they are!
